NeverThinkOfSuicide: Nigerians Advocate For MentalHealth And Seeking Help For Depression
The hashtag #NeverThinkOfSuicide is currently trending on micro-blogging social networking site Twitter, as an advocacy geared at creating awareness on depression and the need to look out for people around us battling it, especially silently.
The advocacy championed by Influencer @thepamilerin became imperative after many young Nigerians in recent time were said to have attempted and even committed suicide. The tone of the conversation has been to encourage people battling depression speak up and seek help, as well as admonish people to be their brother’s keepers and look out for others.
Check out some of the tweets from the campaign below:
Suicide should never be an option, talk to someone. You feel like the whole world is against you and nobody sees what you’re going through. You’ll be fine darling, God’s got you! #NeverThinkOfSuicide

It’s understandable that no one will get you or feel the way you do but guess what, listen to those who reach out. Don’t ignore the signs you see.— Olorisupergal (@OloriSupergal) May 16, 2019

Hashtags like #NeverThinkOfSuicide have good intentions. They come from a very good place, a very good heart. But they also show that people do not understand the roots of most of what makes people, including people we would think are doing great, take their own lives.

Always have it at the back of your mind that life will challenge you, test you. Yes, situations can get really unbearable, making you sink so deep into sadness. The devil then makes you feel things won’t get better. Lies! The night is darkest before the dawn. #NeverThinkOfSuicide
