Rapper Sarkodie Slams Ghanaian Government Over Plans To Build N72b ($200m) Parliament

Ghanaian rapper, Michael Owusu Addo, well known as Sarkodie, is speaking against the Government of his country.

The rapper took to various social media to lament about NDC and NPP governments have failed citizens.

Sarkodie said  that the intention of building a new parliamentary chamber which will cost about $200m will not be the best decision—because Ghana faces other pressing challenges including bad roads.

He called on Ghanaians to come together and tackle issues head-on devoid of partisanship.

“Politics and politicians will always be the same till the people change and become one putting this whole NDC NPP on the side and tackle issues together …If All these potholes on the motorway and other roads in Ghana causing accidents can be overlooked to raise 200mil for a chamber then yall know the kinda people we choose to be in power. Every project should target the betterment of the people first,” he wrote.

The building of a new parliamentary chamber which is yet to be approved has received a lot of public outcries after the news about it broke.

The new complex is expected to have a 450 sitting capacity, house facilities including diplomatic offices, a library, a museum, a church, a mosque, eateries, press conference rooms, galleries, a car park, an upper gallery garden, and a post office. The present chamber will be converted into a conference room, as confirmed by the architect, Sir David Adjaye.

Many Ghanaians also appear to share Sarkodie’s view on the proposed project.
