Netflix chief content officer, Ted Sarandos on Sunday expressed interest in working with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle following their royal family exit.

This follows speculation from the entertainment industry and fans if the couple will follow the step Barack and Michelle Obama took by striking a production deal with the global streaming giant, Netflix about they left the White House.

Reports say Sarandos when asked at an event in Los Angeles if Netflix would be interested in working with Prince Harry and Markle, the executive said;

Who wouldn’t be interested? Yes, sure.

Some observers say Harry, who is friends with former U.S. president Barack Obama, may consider adopting the Obamas’ post-White House career model of going into the entertainment industry.

Barack and Michelle Obama reportedly signed an eight-figure deal with Netflix to produce high-brow historical, biographical and social-justice programming with their company, Higher Ground Productions after they left office.

If a deal is made, Netflix would give the Sussexes a platform of 158 million paid subscribers and be a coup for the streaming service, which won critical praise for a chronicle of the life of Queen Elizabeth, “The Crown” .

In a recently resurfaced video, as Meghan greeted Beyonce and Jay Z in a line at the opening of the movie “The Lion King” in London last July, Prince Harry told Disney chairman and chief executive Bob Iger that Meghan does voiceovers.

Reports say this pitch landed her the voiceover deal with Disney in return for a donation to an elephant charity, following the news of their decision to stand down from their royal duties.

The Sussexes have already started their journey in broadcast media.

Prince Harry has once participated in a documentary on mental health with Oprah Winfrey, for Apple TV.

In 2017, Harry interviewed Barack Obama when he was the guest editor of BBC Radio 4’s Today program.

Also, in 2019, a U.K. broadcast station aired “Harry & Meghan: An African Journey,” which was aired in the U.S. on ABC

Another route, that observers say, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex could make wealth for themselves is through a book deal just like The Obamas reportedly got a book deal of more than $65 million.

As earlier reported, Prince Harry and Markle will no longer use the titles “royal highness” or receive public funds for their work.
