Some Nigerians have reacted to the decision of the founder and presiding Bishop of Faith Tabernacle, aka Winners Chapel, David Oyedepo to dismiss some church officials for allegedly stealing from the church’s treasury.
Oyedepo had made the announcement of the dismissal on Saturday, January 11, 2020, while speaking during an empowerment summit organised for the church’s ordained workers.
We had no choice but to dismiss them. You can imagine top church officials engaging in doubling figures and other dubious practices. After we dismissed them, we discovered more fraud.
Those who should discover the fraud were the ones involved in it. One of them refused to confess until the last minute. Can you imagine accountants perpetrating fraud in the house of God?
This statement has stirred mixed reaction from many Nigerians on Twitter, either supporting his decision or bashing him.
Here are some tweets below:
Bishop Oyedepo should’ve forgiven those Senior officers that looted D treasury of his church & ordained them as Snr Pastors of the church.— TallJohn🌍 (@JohnFanimokun) January 12, 2020
Those fraudsters would also have begged for his forgiveness before their dismissal just like Atiku.
Can’t we practice what we do preach?😉
Bishop Oyedepo caught and dismissed thieving church Pastors. If you feel otherwise, wait till you catch your workers stealing from you then implement this forgiveness you are preaching.— Raymond (@IamTheIroko) January 12, 2020
To each his own….
I’m seeing all these tweets dragging Oyedepo for dismissing some officials for looting.— Somebody’s Wife (@adesanyajt) January 12, 2020
1)The church is an organization and should be treated as such, in an organized manner.
2) whether he is a business man or not is between him and God.
But How Come The God Of Oyedepo That Gives Him All The Visions And Prophecies That He Always Shouts Didn’t Show Him When The Officials Were Looting His Church Treasury?— Iké Nná (@IKENNA_____) January 12, 2020
Is This Not A Confirmation That This Oyedepo Man Is Just A Business Man?
God Cannot Allow Such To His Own! pic.twitter.com/8qp95qot0G
I have always noticed that you latch on every opportunity to drag Bishop David Oyedepo, Sam Adeyemi, Pastor Adeboye and co.— Wale Adetona (@iSlimfit) January 12, 2020
Your life must be pretty interesting, and I hope the devil remunerates you bountifully for executing his kingdom mandate perfectly.
Chop block, bro. https://t.co/O5VZTWOOXu
Bishop Oyedepo has however warned the church members not to sympathize with dismissed officials, saying if they do, they are partakers of the evil act.
