Fire Razes Down Atakumosa Central Market In Osun State
Fire has razed down a part of Central Market in Atakumosa, Ilesha, in Osun state, destroying goods worth millions of naira.
The inferno which started around 1 am on 11th February, 2020, affected several shops located at the entrance of the market.
The fire was later subdued through the combined efforts of the police and firemen.
An officer with Osun State Fire Service, Fatai Aremu, told newsmen that the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) and firefighters wee at first denied quick access to the venue of the fire due to barriers at the entrance of the shops.
Aremu explained that the damage caused by the fire incident was severe, as he claimed the cause of the inferno had not been ascertained.
The Osun state police command, while reacting, said policemen were deployed at the scene of the incident to prevent looting of the shops.
