First Suspected Case Of Coronavirus In Enugu State Tests Negative
First suspected case of Coronavirus reported in Enugu State on March 15 has tested negative to the virus.
The Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) disclosed this in a tweet on March 16.
The centre had announced that the suspected person had been isolated and the sample was collected for further verification. The result of the test was made available on Sunday night.
The tweet read;
The laboratory result of the patient in Enugu suspected to have #COVID19 is NEGATIVE. It is important to wait for confirmation from NCDC before spreading information on social media. NCDC will continue to provide updates to the public.

The permanent secretary of the Enugu State Ministry of Health, Dr Ifeanyi Agujiobi also corroborated the result, confirming that NCDC carried the test out at the Irua Specialist Hospital.
The suspected case, a female, was reportedly in the UK in the last five months but came to Enugu through Owerri on March 11 to visit her son.
He, however, called on the public to go about their normal business activities and urged them to, however, remain alert and vigilant, observing basic personal health hygiene.
