Just In: ASUU Begins Indefinite Strike
The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has on March 23 begun an indefinite strike.
ASUU President, Biodun Ogunyemi, announced this at a press briefing in its National Secretariat in Abuja.
The union had on March 9 declared a two-week warning strike because of the Federal Government’s inability to pay salaries of lecturers.
The FG has earlier declared lecturers who are not enrolled in the Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System (IPPIS) will not be paid.
The non-implementation of the 2009 agreement is among the reason for the indefinite strike.
