Boris Johnson, British Prime Minister has tested positive for the coronavirus, as the disease continues to spread rapidly across the United Kingdom, it emerged.

The prime minister, disclosed his health status on March 27 via a tweet accompanied by a video of himself addressing his followers.

In his tweet, he stated that he only has mild symptoms, however this news underlines fears that the crisis is escalating in the United Kingdom.

Boris tweeted saying;

Over the last 24 hours I have developed mild symptoms and tested positive for coronavirus. I am now self-isolating, but I will continue to lead the government’s response via video-conference as we fight this virus.

Together we will beat this. #StayHomeSaveLives

Prince Charles, eldest son of Queen Elizabeth II had tested positive for coronavirus earlier this week as well as Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau’s wife, Sophie.

It was gathered that Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab will fill in if the Prime Minister is incapacitated, although there is little sign that he has stopped working.

London is regarded as the epicentre of the outbreak in the UK, and many at Westminster have been struck down with symptoms.

Health minister Nadine Dorries was the first confirmed MP case, and has since recovered and returned to work.

The declared UK death toll spiked on March 26, as it rose from 113 to 578 death cases.

Johnson had on Monday given a dramatic address to the nation, which he declared that the country had to go into lockdown, with no-one leaving their houses unless absolutely necessary.
