Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai Tests Positive For Coronavirus
Governor Nasir El-Rufai has tested positive for the novel coronavirus, it emerged on Saturday evening.
The Governor is Kaduna’s first confirmed case, and the second in Nigeria to test positive for the virus.
Bauchi state Governor, Bala Mohammed was the first state Governor in Nigeria to be confirmed positive for the deadly disease, after having contact with an infected person.
Mallam El-Rufai declared his health status in a video tweeted by the Kaduna state government, alongside this caption;
KADUNA UPDATE: Malam Nasir @elrufai has disclosed that he has tested positive for Covid-19. He is in self-isolation as required by the case management guidelines of the NCDC for a someone that is not showing symptoms.

The Governor appealed to residents of Kaduna state to continue to observe preventive measures, notwithstanding the state of things.

Meanwhile, Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) had earlier reported 8 new Coronavirus cases, 7 in Lagos and 1 in Benue State.
According to the centre, there are now 89 confirmed cases reported in Nigeria, 3 recovered patients and 1 death.
