Coronavirus: Chinese Billionaire Jack Ma Makes Fresh Donations Of 500 Ventilators, 1M Kits To Africa

Chinese billionaire and co-founder of Alibaba, Jack Ma has sent additional donations, including 500 ventilators to 54 African countries to help fight the coronavirus.

Ma broke the news via his Twitter handle, saying his new donations include 200,000 suits and face shields, 2,000 thermometers, one million swabs and extraction kits as well as 500,000 gloves.

The new supplies are the second set of donation sent to Africa by the philanthropist. 

Ma had earlier donated 1.1 million testing kits, 6 million masks, and 60,000 medical use protective suits and face shields to help fight COVID-19 in Africa.

Each of the 54 African countries, including Nigeriareceived 20,000 test kits, 100,000 masks and 1,000 protective gears sent from Ethiopia where the supplies were first delivered to.

So far, 9,198 cases of the coronavirus has been recorded in 51 African countries, leading to 414 deaths.
