Chief of Staff to the President Muhammadu Buhari, Mallam Abba Kyari has died while battling Coronavirus.

This was made known by Femi Adesina, Special Adviser to President Buhari on Media and Publicity, in the early hours of Saturday morning in an official tweet.

According to him, his funeral arrangements will be announced soon.

It would be recalled that Abba Kyari was on March 24 reported to have contracted the disease while President Muhammadu Buhari’s Coronavirus test came out negative.

Kyari had travelled to Germany on March 7th to meet with officials of Siemens in Munich on the Nigerian electricity expansion programme.

He returned on March 14th without any symptoms of Coronavirus.

Kyari was said to have been at a meeting on containing the COVID-19 pandemic in Nigeria where he reportedly started to cough, ThisDay reported.

Subsequently, he voluntarily submitted himself for testing and was informed of his status as being positive to Coronavirus.

He was moved to Lagos for treatment following the test result but has now reportedly died while battling the virus.

However, as at press time, details of his death are still sketchy.
