Governor of Lagos state, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has tested negative for coronavirus.

The governor revealed this in a tweet on his official handle on Thursday morning.

He also disclosed that his family and aides tested negative for the virus.

Sanwo-Olu’s tweet reads;

As a responsible leader, it was important that I get tested for #COVID19 to ensure nothing distracts me from my role of leading Lagos during this period.

I am happy to announce that my result has returned NEGATIVE. My family and aides are negative as well.

The governor stated that he is aware of youths gathering for social and sporting activities as well as those gathering for religious purposes.

According to him, this kind of insensitivity by Lagos residents could be the weak link in the collective effort to break the chain of transmitting the virus.

Governor Sanwo-Olu expressed that;

Anyone could be a carrier of #COVID19 without showing symptoms immediately and looking at global transmission,one weak link can lead to community vulnerability.

Meanwhile, on Thursday, Lagos announced that 11 Coronavirus patients have been discharged from the Infectious Disease Centre in Yaba.

According to Lagos State Ministry Of Health (LSMOH), the patients include two females and nine males, whose results came out negative after two rounds of Coronavirus tests.

As at Thursday night, Lagos has 98 confirmed Coronavirus cases, 19 discharged and 1 evacuated.
