NCDC Confirms 38 New Cases Of Coronavirus

Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has announced thirty-eight (38) new cases of Coronavirus.

The centre made this known in a tweet on Monday evening, stating that 23 cases were reported in Kano, 5 in Gombe, 3 in Kaduna, 2 in Borno, 2 in Abia and one each in FCT, Sokoto and Ekiti states.

It added that Lagos, which currently has the highest number of COVID-19 cases, recorded no case for Monday.
According to the NCDC as at 11:10 pm 20th April, there are 665 confirmed cases of Coronavirus reported in Nigeria.

In a follow up, the centre made a breakdown of cases per state from the worst-hit state ( Lagos – 376) to least-hit state (Sokoto, Anambra and Benue with one case each).

It would be recalled that 86 cases of Coronavirus were reported in Nigeria on Sunday night, with total cases standing at 627.
However, with the new cases announced today, there are currently 665 confirmed cases, 188 recoveries and 22 deaths nationwide.

Meanwhile, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on Monday said it has tested 8,003 samples for COVID-19 in the country.The information was contained in the NCDC’s COVID-19 situation report dated April 19, 2020, Channels TV reports.

The report noted that 9,233 have been identified as ‘People of Interest’ with about 98 per cent now contacted.

According to the report, 22 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have reported at least one case of COVID-19.

The death rate was put at three per cent (3%)

The NCDC data also reflected that more men (70 per cent) had been infected in the country.

The most affected age-group was the 31 – 40 bracket, the report said.
