Nigerian Man Narrates How His Younger Brother Died By Suicide After Alleged Inhumane Treatment By SARS Operatives
Nigerians on Twitter have been clamoring for justice with the hashtag #JusticeForSeyiAkinade after a young Nigerian forex trader committed suicide due to alleged inhumane treatment received from Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS).
@Comeback_Snarky in a series of tweets narrated what led to this death of his younger brother who died on April 22.
Late Akinade’s brother was reportedly arrested at Camp Abeokuta and driven to Ibara Police Station where the SARS operatives allegedly accused him of being a fraudster.
He was also told that he can only regain his freedom by paying N200k.
@Comeback_Snarky tweeted;
My younger brother died earlier this morning and I can’t help beating myself up for missing the clues he left as to what he was going through.
My theory is that he committed suicide out of depression based on the way SARS officials treated him.

I saw the hashtag #justiceForSeyiAkinade and his story moved me to tears, he fought and asked for help but it seemed no one was listening.
He has called to attention that police brutality does not leave its victims the same and the government has to do something about it NOW

I read through this thread and I’m totally livid. Does this even sound like a Country that has a President? How can innocent youths be raided, humiliated, paraded, extorted & murdered with reckless abandon. @PoliceNG @MBuhari I hope you’re happy now.#JusticeForSeyiAkinade https://t.co/z3wCbGkY11

Seyi died for simply being Nigerian, it wasn’t his fault that he was born in a lawless country where those who are meant to uphold law are the ones who unremorsefully break it, how many more victims are struggling with PTSD, we are sorry Seyi.
RIP 💔💔

Not every guy with a laptop and iPhone is a yahoo boy.
Using expensive gadget is not a standard set by Yahoo Boys. The most annoying part is that when they catch the real yahoo Boys all they want is their share not justice. #JusticeForSeyiAkinade

Another life lost to the absolute insensitivity, animalistic behaviour and absolute foolishness of police officers under the SARS formation.
This is sad on so many levels and a failure of Govt to realise that it’s first duty is the welfare of citizens.#JusticeForSeyiAkinade https://t.co/8E9b3WA234

It’s sad getting to know about @Akinadeoluwa17 today & seeing what he went through in the hands of #SARS in Ogun. I’m just imagining the pains he went through & the grieving going on in his family. #JusticeForSeyiAkinade is a kinda hashtag that surfaces regularly but sadly what we get in return is a more terrible reoccurrence! I feel for the family of this late young man because our condolences won’t bring him back 😞

I am certain we have peoplehere who their dad/uncle/relative member are SARS official. Please make them understand that it’s not every young guy out there that’s a fraudster, they hustle hard to survive and they should channel their energy where needed #JusticeForSeyiAkinade

Are we going to continue on this path of trendin #justiceForSeyiAkinade, #Justice for x&y, perpetually?
As they say governance is hard, is it really that hard to reform the force, where the CinC simply gives orders? Is it okay for our children to keep dying from our own Police?😭— Ayò Bánkólé (@AyoBankole) April 22, 2020
Sars have killed again!!! 😭😭😭
For how long will this continue to go on???I am saddened beyond words, he was crying for help, but no one paid attention.
His country failed him, family members failed him…his followers failed him the most…
