As several countries in the world adopt various measures to fight against the Coronavirus pandemic, Senegal has adopted a novel approach of testing every citizen of the country whether they show symptoms of the disease or not.
This high rate of testing is possible due to a laboratory in Senegal which have used its AIDS and Ebola experience to develop COVID-19 testing kit as well as ventilators.
Described as one of the world’s most affordable coronavirus testing kits, the testing kits cost only $1 (N390) each, and the 3D printed ventilators cost just $60 (N23, 400) as compared to an actual ventilator that costs $16,000.
Usage of the testing kit is easy and quick as patients only have to drop saliva or blood on the devices and wait for the bloodline to appear just like a pregnancy test.
It is gathered that Senegal also has the largest recovery rate in Africa and the third in the world, after United States and France.
While there are no drugs to treat COVID-19, Senegal is administering existing drug like Chloroquine to help those seriously affected by the pathogen.
As at press time, Senegal has 671 Coronavirus cases, 283 recoveries and 9 deaths.
These measures has been hailed as impressive and encouraging by various individuals and world leaders including Nigerians.
See some reactions from Nigerians below;
SA tested over 150k people.

Ghana insured her frontline health workers & sped up testing using drones with over 10k tested.

Senegal utilised its Engineers to produce cheap locally made ventilators.
Senegal utilised its microbiologists and biochemists to produce $1 COVID-19 tests.
In Nigeria, these professionals are forced to teach in secondary schools and work in banks.
Our Jollof is sweet though.

If Chad 🇹🇩, Senegal 🇸🇳 or Ghana 🇬🇭 does something right and people are praising them, you don’t need to feel attacked.
Nigeria 🇳🇬 has what it takes to do every single thing these African countries can do. Resources. Manpower. Intellect. What we need is visionary leadership.
