Suspected Coronavirus Patient Who Ran Away In Abia Arrested
Abia State government has on Saturday evening announced that suspected Coronavirus patient known as Vincent Prosper earlier declared wanted has now been found.
This was disclosed in a press release by the Commissioner for Information in the state, Chief John Okiyi-Kalu.
Okiyi-Kalu, while speaking on efforts to apprehend the COVID-19 suspect, said that Prosper who had gone missing after alerting the National Control Room of National Center for Disease and Control (NCDC) of manifesting COVID-19 symptoms.
The commissioner revealed that Vincent Prosper also said he had contact with a confirmed patient in neighbouring Akwa Ibom state in addition to him recently returning from Lagos.
Okiyi-Kalu added that;
Our team immediately swung into action and called the number forwarded, took notes and asked the individual to isolate himself pending our arrival to take samples for testing.
He said the suspected patient was apprehended Saturday morning at a-yet-to be disclosed location in Aba, the commercial centre of the state through the efforts of the security agents.
Okiyi-Kalu revealed that they learnt the real name of the suspected victim is not Vincent Prosper as he had claimed when he called NCDC National Control Room.
He added that the COVID-19 suspect as at press time is at the Abia State COVID-19 Center at the Amachara General Hospital in Umuahia South Local Government Area of the state.
