Breaking: NCDC Announces 148 New Coronavirus Cases – 43 In Lagos

Total Coronavirus infection rate has hit 2950 after Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) announced 148 new cases on Tuesday night.

This was announced via the official Twitter handle of the centre, stating;

It would be recalled that as at Monday night, total cases in Nigeria was 2802, 417 recoveries and 93 casualties.

However, with the new coronavirus cases recorded, there are now 2950 total cases, 481 discharged and 98 deaths across the country.

Also, NCDC in a tweet posted earlier today, revealed that 19,512 samples have been tested nationwide as at May 4th.

In other news, the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19 has said it will engage about 3,300 informants to report suspected cases of coronavirus in Kano State.

The PTF Chairman and Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr Boss Mustapha, revealed this on Tuesday in Abuja.

According to him, the decision was taken because the state is fast emerging as the epicentre of the pandemic in the northern region of the country, as coronavirus cases continues to rapidly increase over a short period of time.

He explained that the task force has mobilised the informants for a house-to-house search and to report suspected cases in the state.

Mustapha added that the COVID-19 testing capacity in Kano has been increased to 400 per day and plans are in place to increase it to 2,000 daily by the end of the week.
