Chinese Ambassador To Israel, Du Wei, Found Dead In His Tel Aviv Home
Chinese ambassador to Israel, Du Wei, has been found dead in his north of Tel Aviv home, it emerged on Sunday morning.
According to the police, investigation has been opened to determine the circumstances surrounding Du’s death.
Police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld confirmed that Du was found on his bed by the envoy’s staff in his home in Herzliya, Israel.
Israel media reported that, according to an initial assessment, Du appears to have died of a cardiac arrest, but there was no official confirmation.
There has also been no comment on the ambassador’s death from the Chinese embassy in Israel or the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Beijing.
Wei, 58, was appointed as China’s envoy to Israel in February this year. He had previously served as China’s envoy to Ukraine.
He is survived by a wife and son, both of whom don’t live in Israel.
