In the bid to adapt to the global changes in living conditions due to the coronavirus pandemic, a Dutch restaurant has created personal quarantine greenhouses for people to eat in while observing social distance.

The restaurant in Amsterdam, Netherlands, according to BBC, is offering a four-course vegetarian menu to guests while they sit and dine in their own personal quarantine greenhouses.

This comes as many places begin to loosen up on social distancing rules and other lockdown measures, which could really benefit this type of quarantine greenhouse restaurant.

The bizarre social-distancing measure is only in the trial phase for family and friends of staff, but the vegan eatery hopes to make the greenhouses official with permission from the state, which has been under nationwide lockdown since mid-March, Daily Mail reports.

The visionary for the greenhouses, Willem Velthoven said;

This was one of the most feasible ideas from a large list of ideas we had when brainstorming.

The glass dining domes, called serres séparées (“separate rooms” in French), allow two to three diners to enjoy their while completely cordoned off.

Waiters pass dishes through the door from a safe distance, using long boards. They wear gloves and face shields to avoid exposure to any form of infections. Also, only groups that live in the same house are permitted to share the pod.

While dining in a greenhouse might sound confining, the restaurant claims that the unique experience affords diners “a sexy kind of intimacy.”

Attesting to this, a diner named Janita Vermeulen told Reuters;

It’s super cozy, it’s really cozy, it’s nice and the food is delicious.

Surprisingly or not, Velthoven said tickets for reservations are all sold out. The visionary restaurateur has larger greenhouses as well, but hesitates to implement.

As at Thursday, the Netherlands has suffered 41,774 coronavirus cases and 5,288 deaths, according to Worldometer.

Meanwhile, in the US, more than half the states are starting to reopen.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention released detailed instructions for restaurants planning on reopening, including the use of disposable menus.
