Emir Of Rano Dies Hours After Being Hospitalised, Emirate Officials Say Death Not Coronavirus-Related
The Emir of Rano, Dr Tafida Abubakar Ila II has reportedly died of an undisclosed ailment at Nassarwa Specialist Hospital on Saturday evening, it has emerged.
The report said that the Emir was rushed to the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital (AKTH) in a critical condition but due to lack of oxygen, he was referred to the Nassarawa Specialist Hospital for further medical attention, where he died.
Reports said he had been hospitalised on Friday but rumours which was making rounds claimed the Emir was hospitalized for what was suspected to be covid-19.
However, the officials of the Emirate Council debunked this, saying his illness was not related to COVID-19.
Speculations surrounding his death comes after Coronavirus cases in Kano spikes to over 300 cases in less than two weeks.
Confirming the death, The Turakin Rano, Kabiru Alhassan Rurum, said the late emir was admitted at the hospital on Friday.
Rurum, who is a former speaker of the Kano State House of Assembly, stated that the emir would be buried on Saturday, according to Islamic injunctions.
Rano is one of the emirates created by Governor of Kano, Abdullahi Ganduje, at the height of his rift with former Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi, whom was eventually dethroned and sent on exile to Nasarawa.
