Sir TC Okere, former Director-General of Imo Broadcasting Corporation, has allegedly stabbed his wife of 50 years to death.
The tragic incident reportedly happened on Monday morning in Imerenwe, Ngor-Okpala council area of Imo State.
The murdered woman was a 77-year-old retiree of the Imo State Polytechnic, Umuagwo.
The spokesman of Imo state police command, SP Orlando Ikeokwu confirming the incident, said;
It is true that the former Director-General of the state-owned broadcasting corporation TC Okere allegedly stabbed the wife to death this morning and the command will soon commence an investigation into the matter.
The former Director-General of Imo Broadcasting Corporation, Sir TC Okere is at large after allegedly stabbing his wife of 50 years to death earlier today, 25th May, 2020 in Imo state.
WithinNigeria reports that the 86-year-old crime suspect is allegedly suffering from ‘advanced dementia’.
A family source stated;
He (Pa Okere) was having advanced dementia and everyone within the village knows his health condition. He didn’t know that he had killed his wife because when he was asked about her, he said she was sleeping.
We took him to the hospital; they said we should come after the pandemic. So we couldn’t take him to the hospital because of this Coronavirus. You know how hospitals react to cases like this.
The source revealed that few weeks ago, Pa Okere had gone to the village church, reporting that his vehicle was stolen while the car was parked in his house.
As at the time of filing this report, circumstances surrounding the alleged murder is yet to be known.
