Chinese club Shanghai Shenhua has rejected request made by Manchester United to extend Nigerian striker, Odion Ighalo’s loan by 3 months, DailyMail reports.

The player has been on a six-month agreement loan which will expire next week but a move by United to retain him has been rebuffed by Shanghai.

According to the DailyMail, United parent club Shanghai Shenhua are demanding that their star striker returns to the club for the start of the Chinese Super League.

It is reported that unless United make a breakthrough in negotiations, Ighalo will return to China upon the end of his contract next week Monday.

On his own part, Ighalo has made it clear he desires to finish the Premier League season with Manchester United, but Shanghai has the final say based on his contract.

It is said that Shanghai has offered Odion Ighalo a massive £400,000 per week deal for him to return, if accepted, it will make him the highest paid African footballer ever.
