Kidnappers Release Popular Oyo Islamic Cleric’s Twins
Twins of an Ibadan-based popular Muslim cleric, Alhaji Taofeek Akewugbagold have been released by their abductors.
Akewugbagold disclosed this in a post on his Facebook page in the early hours of Sunday.
The post reads;
Alhamdulillah At 5.30AM of Sunday 3rd May, my abducted twin kids are released to me beside a bush after 8 days in an unknown land. Thanks to you all for your prayers and support. Jazakumllahu Khairan. Abere mi bo sinu okun, oloun yo pada fun mi.
MDB had on April 26th reported that the twins – a male and a female – were kidnapped at their parents’ house at about 8:30 pm in Ojoo area, Ibadan.
Akewugbagold, who hails from Oyo West Local Government, was chairman of the Oyo State Pilgrims Welfare Board (Muslim Wing) during the two-term tenure of the immediate past Governor, Abiola Ajimobi.
The abductors had on Wednesday revealed that abductors of his twins have reached out to the family, assuring that the kids were in good spirit.
Though, Akewugbagold refused to give details of the demands by the abductors, he appealed to them via a telephone chat to release the twins.
The cleric had revealed that about four suspects have been arrested but insisted that those arrested are his workers suspected by the police.
The cleric and his wife gave birth to the now released twins after 12 years of marriage.
