As of Thursday evening, Lagos had recorded 1,491 COVID-19 cases, according to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).
Similarly, Gombe State Government has announced the discharge of 20 COVID-19 patients in the state.
The state Commissioner for Health, Ahmed Gana, who made this known on Friday, said they were discharged after testing negative twice.
Gana said;
We are happy to inform the general public that NCDC has given us go ahead to discharge a total of 20 cases under our isolation facilities.
Ten from Kwadon Isolation facility and the second 10 were from Federal Teaching Hospital (FTH) Gombe Isolation center.
Gombe State has recorded 109 confirmed cases of the disease.
The newly discharged cases comes a day after Gombe State Task Force on COVID-19 reacted to the protest of coronavirus patients that took to the streets on May 5.
It would be recalled that coronavirus patients in Gombe protested alleged poor condition at the isolation centre in Yamaltu Deba local government area.
Many of them decried the alleged ill-treatment from the COVID-19 task force and the state government.
Dr Mohammed Kwami, the State Focal Officer on COVID-19 pandemic Response however described the protest as an “emotional protest”.
He stated that the protest was not caused by the authorities neglect of the patients, but a misplaced emotional aggression that went out of hand.
Kwami stressed that the task force under the leadership, of Prof. Idris Mohammed, was responsive and proactive in its assignment.
