NCDC Driver Tests Positive For COVID-19 In Nasarawa
A courier driver who works with the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) in Nassarawa has tested positive for Coronavirus.
Governor Abdullahi Sule disclosed this on Tuesday during a stakeholders’ review meeting at the Government House in Lafia, the state capital.
He explained that the patient who lives in Ado, a town in Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa transports test samples for the NCDC in Abuja.
According to him, the patient got infected in the line of duty and is being transported to the Federal Medical Centre, Keffi where he will receive treatment.
This brings the total number of confirmed cases in Nassarawa state as of Tuesday afternoon to 12.
The governor added that all the patients are currently receiving treatment at the Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital, Lafia and the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Keffi.
He also said the state had taken delivery of 6,000 Personal Protective types of equipment (PPE), 50,000 imported face mask as well as another 50,000 locally produced face mask by the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).
Governor Sule encouraged the people of the state adhere to all government’s directives on COVID-19 in order to stem the tide of the virus
Meanwhile, eleven of the cases in Nassarawa are active while one is a member of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly who died of COVID-19 complications last week.
