Sick Ondo Policewoman Refuses COVID-19 Test
A senior police officer in Ondo State allegedly showing coronavirus symptoms has reportedly refused to submit herself for testing.
It was gathered that the ill policewoman attached to the Yaba Police Division, Ondo town, had opted for herbal medicine.
The development is said to have triggered panic in her home, with some of her family members afraid they could be infected.
The brother of the officer said his ill sister had been taking herbs at home to treat herself and refused to get tested for the virus at the hospital.
He added that he cried out about the situation to prevent others around her including family members and colleagues from getting infected, incase she tests positive for the virus.
The source said;
I’m ready to give all information needed, she is my blood sister. The family members did not know. People don’t know (about her health conditions) and she is using herbs. Who knows what is happening to other officers too? She is not the only one at Yaba police station. The station is big.
On his part, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Tee-Leo Ikoro, confirmed that another officer had contracted the disease at Yaba Police Division.
He said;
When I learnt about the matter and after our investigation we discovered that it was a Federal SARS officer in the division that they were referring to and he has been quarantined.
Meanwhile, three other police officers are reportedly among the 13 persons that have tested positive for the disease in the state.
Reports say they are all receiving treatment at the Infectious Disease Hospital (IDH) in Akure, Ondo.
As at press time, there are 13 Coronavirus cases and 3 discharged patients in Ondo.
