Twitter Users Call Out EFCC Over Health Minister’s Appeal To Nigerians To Donate Buildings For Isolation Centres
Minister of Health, Dr Osagie Ehanire has appealed to Nigerians to donate their buildings as isolation centres.
Ehanire made the appeal at the press briefing of the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19 in Abuja on Thursday.
He said as the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) aims to test two million people in the next three months more buildings would be needed as isolation centres.
The minister stated,
I have appealed to citizens to make their property available temporarily for this purpose. I am sure that after that, there are many property owners who will come up and donate to state governments for a period of time to be used for this function. We are not out of space now but we are making the appeal ahead of time so that we have these facilities ready.
Ehanire also stated that test capacity of the 15 laboratories in Nigeria had reached 2500.
He, therefore, called on Nigerians to make their buildings available as isolation centres.
This appeal, however did not sit well with many Nigerians, as they took to Twitter to express their disapproval over the request.
Many of them have called out the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to make available to the NCDC several numbers of building seized and sealed in the country over the years.

EFCC can use the forfeited Dieziani Madueke’s former buildings at the Banana Island.
It’s such a massive building with everything needed to make the patients comfortable.

According to EFCC chairman, Mr Ibrahim Magu, “about 407 mansions were seized by EFCC from 2015-2018. Out of the 407 mansions seized, 126 have been forfeited and 281 are under interim forfeiture.” Now imagine adding the houses seized in 2019 and maybe 2020. Let him call EFCC!!! https://t.co/Va0lb2seD6

Donate your buildings as isolation centres, minister begs Nigerians.
I don’t have to read further, Ehanire can actually say anything.
What about buildings seized by the EFCC?
And the hotels by the corrupt leader?
Well, Ehanire can donate his family house too.

According to Ibrahim Magu, EFCC Acting chairman, about 407 mansions were seized by the agency from 2015 to 2018. Some of these properties should be useful at this time. #efcc
