2,683 Active COVID-19 Cases Yet To Come For Treatment – Lagos Health Commissioner Akin Abayomi
Lagos State Commissioner for Health, Akin Abayomi, has said 2683 persons who have tested positive for COVID-19 in the state are yet to turn up for admission in the different care centres in the state.
According to him, this is either due to ignorance, fear of stigmatization or the choice of home care method.
Abayomi stated this while giving an update on the COVID-19 cases in Lagos state, which has remained the epicenter of the pandemic in Nigeria since the first case was recorded in February 2020.
In his breakdown, Abayomi said the state has so far witnessed 128 deaths from COVID-19.
His tweet reads;

The Commissioner in a follow up tweet stated that;

He added that 454 of the cases are currently under isolation in public and private care centres across Lagos state.

According to Prof. Abayomi;

16 COVID-19 patients have been transferred to other states while 2 patients evacuated outside Nigeria.

As at June 28, Nigeria recorded a total of 24,567 confirmed cases, 9007 successfully managed cases and 565 casualties.
