Breaking: NCDC Confirms 328 New Coronavirus Cases, 161 Recoveries

Nigeria Centre for Disease Control has reported 328 new cases of coronavirus and 161 recoveries late Friday.

The centre stated this on its official Twitter page, stating;

The country’s total coronavirus toll was 11,516 with 3535 discharged patients and 323 causalities, as at June 4th.

However, with the new toll, there are now 11,844 total cases, 3,696 recoveries and 333 death cases across the country.

Also, according to NCDC’s situation report, total samples tested nationwide have increased from 71,336 to 73,064 as at June 4th.

Meanwhile, Lagos commissioner for health, Akin Abayomi has warned that the state may run out of bed spaces at isolation centres in two to three weeks if COVID-19 cases keep rising speedily.

The commissioner made this known at a press briefing in Ikeja, Lagos on Friday.

As at June 4thLagos, which is the epicentre of the disease in Nigeria, had a total of 5,542 cases.

Between May 30 when the state recorded its highest daily toll with 378 new COVID-19 cases and June 4th, the state confirmed a total of 1,165 new cases.

Abayomi attributed the recent spike in the number of positive COVID-19 cases to increased testing capacity.

He however said plans are in place to begin the management of asymptomatic patients in their homes to address the rise in cases.
