Breaking: Nigeria’s COVID-19 Cases Exceeds 13,000 As NCDC Reports 663 New Cases -Highest Single Day Figure Recorded

Coronavirus infections toll in Nigeria has exceeded the 13,000 mark as the country records 663 new COVID-19 cases, making it the highest single day figure recorded.

Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) made the announcement late Tuesday via its Twitter handle, bringing total confirmed infections to 13,464.

Its tweet reads;

The breakdown of cases per state is as follows;

It would be recalled that on June 6th, Nigeria hit over 12,000 cases, indicating an additional 1231 cases between Saturday and Tuesday, June 9th.

Also, with the record of 166 newly discharged patients, there are now 4206 successfully managed cases.

However, total death toll total increased from 361 confirmed yesterday to 365.

According to NCDC’s situation report, total samples tested nationwide have grown from 78,244 to 79,948 as at June 8th.

Meanwhile, the NCDC has announced the inclusion of three molecular laboratories coronavirus centre in the country.

The laboratories are located at Biorepository & Clinical Virology Lab UCH, Ibadan; Molecular Diagnostics Lab, Infectious Disease Unit, General Hospital, Ituk Mkpang, Akwa Ibom; and Jigawa State Molecular Lab, Dutse

It also stated that centers in Kwara, Gombe, Ekiti, Ondo and Abia are in progress.
