Breaking: Nigeria’s COVID-19 Toll Exceeds 25,000 As NCDC Announces 566 New Cases

Nigeria’s coronavirus infection toll has exceeded the 25,000 mark after recording 566 new COVID-19 cases in 19 states and Federal Capital Territory.

The agency made the announcement on Monday night via its Twitter handle, saying;

It would be recalled that over 24,000 cases, were recorded two days ago, indicating an increase of 1056 additional cases between June 27th and June 29th.

This increased rate in cases is as a result of high community transmission rate, as many continue to flout safety guidelines.

On Sunday, the country’s total coronavirus was 24,567 cases, with 9007 discharged patients and 565 causalities.

With the new toll, there are now 25,133 total cases, 9,402 recoveries and 573 death cases across the country.

Also, according to NCDC’s situation report, total samples tested nationwide have moved from 130,164 to 132,304 as at June 28.

Meanwhile, Bayelsa State Government has discharged 54 COVID-19 patients from the isolation centre in the state.

This was disclosed on Monday by the Director of Public Health in the State, Dr Yerinbuluemi Stow.

According to him, the strategies put in place by the government to curb community transfer of the virus in the state has begun producing results.
