COVID-19: FCT Authorities Seal Jabi Lake Mall Over Naira Marley’s Concert
Federal Capital Territory Ministerial Enforcement Task Force on COVID-19 Restrictions has sealed Jabi Lake Mall indefinitely after hosting a concert where singer Naira Marley performed on Saturday.
Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) made this known on his official Twitter page on Sunday afternoon.
It added that the event was in violation of the Federal Government’s directive on public gathering ban as a measure to check the spread of COVID-19 in the country.

Naira Marley alongside his crew flew into Abuja on a private jet on Saturday to perform at the concert, organised by Network Africa and Traffic Bar at Jabi Lake on Saturday, thereby breaching the coronavirus safety guidelines.
The mall has now been sealed following criticisms that trailed the event after videos and images of attendees flouting social distancing rules surfaced on the internet.
Many Nigerians on Twitter called for disciplinary measures against the singer and the organisers.
The presidential task force on COVID-19 had banned public events and gatherings of more than 20 persons amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Regardless of COVID-19 guidelines in place, the mall hosted the concert on Saturday, with pictures and videos showing a crowd of people flouting social distancing measures.
The musical event was planned as a drive-in concert but failed to conform to the planned arrangement.
However, as at press time, no action was known to be taken against the musician who traveled to Abuja on a chartered flight to perform at the event.
