Joy Nunieh, former acting managing director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), has testified before the House of Representatives committee investigating the commission.

Nunieh was meant to testify on Thursday before the committee but police officers invaded her residence in Rivers state, preventing her from going to the airport in other to fly to Abuja.

It took the intervention of Nyesom Wike, Rivers governor, to get her out of her home, who drove with to the state house in Port Harcourt.

It was alleged that the invasion was purposely to prevent Nunieh from honoring the invite to testify before the panel.

The house committee is probing alleged mismanagement of N40bn by the current interim management committee (IMC) of the NDDC.

Since the probe began, Nunieh has been in face-off with Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Godswill Akpabio, making explosive revelations about the minister’s alleged corrupt ways in his operations at the NDDC, which he has denied.

The House committee on NDDC has now summoned the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Mr. Godwin Akpabio, to appear and make presentations before it on Monday, July 20, 2020.
