Breaking: Nigeria’s COVID-19 Toll Exceeds 27,000 As NCDC Announces 626 New Cases
Nigeria’s coronavirus infection toll has exceeded the 27,000 mark after recording 626 new COVID-19 cases in 19 states and Federal Capital Territory.
The new figure comes a day after over 26,000 cases were recorded, indicating an increase of 626 additional cases between July 1st and July 2nd.
The agency made the announcement on Thursday night via its Twitter handle, saying;

Total coronavirus cases in Nigeria have now jumped from 26,484 confirmed on Wednesday to 27,110 infections.
Number of fatalities have increased from 603 to 616, while the number of discharged patients increased from 10,152 recorded yesterday to 10,801 successfully managed cases.
In other news, the Federal Government has said youths between the ages of 20 and 40 are majorly responsible for the spread of the COVID-19, while the majority of those bearing the brunt are older people from 50 years and above.
The Director-General, Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), Dr Chikwe Ihekweazu, disclosed this on Thursday in Abuja at the 48th joint national briefing of the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19.
He implored Nigerians to ensure that safety guidelines are strictly obeyed to protect everyone, especially the elderly in the society.
