‘FAAN Lied, I Did Not Flout Airport Protocols’ – Adamawa Gov. Fintiri
Adamawa state Governor Ahmadu Fintiri has denied allegation by the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) that he flouted COVID-19 protocols at the Port-Harcourt International Airport on Tuesday.
FAAN in a series of tweets on Thursday called out the Governor and his entourage for flouting the airport’s COVID-19 safety protocols by refusing to have their temperature checked or being sanitized by the health officials at the airport.
It added that the team that came to receive the Governor and his entourage drove right through the barricades up to the terminal building ignoring traffic and Aviation Security instructions.

Reacting to the allegations, the Governor alleged that FAAN lied about his body temperature and those of his aides not being checked.
According to Adamawa Director General of Media and Communications, Mr. Solomon Kumangar in a statement said the Governor only objected to filling his form, insisting his protocol officer should do that for him.
Speaking with The Nation in a phone conversation, Kumangar stated that Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri and his team subjected themselves to protocol, including temperature check, stating that;
The only thing the Governor took exception to was filling a form as the airport demanded.
He explained when the form was offered, the governor felt that his protocol officer or orderly could very well fill it for him.
Kumangar stressed that the airport authority was economical with the truth as their only point of difference with the Governor was filling a form, which Fintiri believed should be done by his aide.
