FCT CP Bala Ciroma Allegedly Appointed To Replace Magu As EFCC Boss
FCT Commissioner of Police, Bala Ciroma has allegedly been appointed to replace the suspended Ibrahim Magu as the new Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Magu has been in detention at FCID since his arrest on Monday and is being interrogated by a presidential panel led by the former President of the appeal court, Justice Ayo Salami.
According to the Independent, Bala Ciroma’s allegedly appointment is to serve as replacement for suspended Magu who has been accused of corruption, insubordination, diversion of recovered loot and abuse of office by the Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami.

Earlier, there were reports about the appointment of EFCC’s Director of Operations, Mohammed Umar as the acting Chief for the commission.
However, both reported appointments are subject to official confirmation from the commission or the presidency, as no statement was yet to be released to this effect as at press time.
Ciroma, prior to becoming FCT CP, served as Deputy Commissioner of Police in the Criminal Intelligence and Investigation Department (CIID) of the FCT Police Command.
He was also at a time the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Welfare) in the Finance and Administration Department at the Force Headquarters, Abuja.
The CP is said to have demonstrated a penchant for diligence in the over 25 years he has been in the police.
Between 2012 and 2013, he was the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Operations, FCT Command, and Assistant Commissioner of Police, IGP Monitoring Unit, Force Headquarters.
Ciroma also spent time between 2011 and 2012 as Assistant Commissioner of Police, CID, Kano State Command, and from 2004 to 2008; he was Head of Operations at the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
