Just In: NCDC Confirms 481 New Coronavirus Cases, 266 Recoveries

Nigeria Centre for Disease Control has announced 481 new cases of coronavirus and 266 recoveries on Thursday night.

According to the centre’s latest data posted on Twitter;

On Wednesday, the country’s total coronavirus exceeded the 42,000 mark having 42,280 cases with 19,004 discharged patients and 873 causalities.

However, with the new toll, there are now 42,689 total cases, 19,270 recoveries and 878 death cases across the country.

Also, according to NCDC’s situation report, total samples tested nationwide have increased from 272,748 to 276,053 as at July 29.

Meanwhile, Ogun state government has said defaulters of the mandatory use of face masks risk six months in jail, with effect from August 4 2020.

The Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun said this while giving updates on efforts aimed at flattening the curve of community transmission of COVID-19.

He announced extra measures aimed at ensuring adherence to protocols for preventing the spread of the virus, including enforcing a law that prescribes six months imprisonment for people who are seen in public without wearing a face mask.
