Just In: Total COVID-19 Toll Exceeds 39,000 As NCDC Confirms 591 New Cases

Total coronavirus cases in Nigeria has exceeded 39,000 after Nigeria Centre for Disease Control recorded 591 new cases.

The new toll comes two days after the country’s total coronavirus surpassed the 38,000 mark.

NCDC in a tweet on Friday has now announced;

On Thursday, there were 38,948 total cases, 16,061 recoveries and 833 death cases across the country.

With the latest toll, total cases have now increased to 39,539 with 16,559 recoveries and 845 casualties across the country.

Also, NCDC in its latest situation report has revealed that overall samples tested nationwide have increased from 251,893 to 256,038 as at July 23.

In other news, the management of the Federal High Court (FHC) has scheduled Monday, July 27 for “sample collection for COVID-19 testing.”

In a circular on Friday in Abuja, staff were informed the sample collection is planned to take place within the court premises.

A Senior Medical Officer 1, Dr. Adaora Keazor, who signed the circular for the court’s Chief Registrar, said the FHC is working with the Department of Public Health on the exercise.

The announcement is coming days after Justice John Tsoho of the Abuja court went into self-isolation following the news that one of his aides tested positive to the infection.
