Nigerians React As Ex-Acting MD Of NDDC, Joy Nunieh Accuses Akpabio Of Asking Her To Take Oath To Commit Fraud At The Commission
Former acting Managing Director of Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Joy Nunieh has levelled corruption allegations against Minister of Niger Delta, Godswill Akpabio.
Nunieh made the allegations during a press conference on Friday, before it was later disrupted by thugs.
Akpabio and Nunieh had appeared before a senate ad hoc panel investigating the alleged mismanagement of N40 billion by the interim management committee (IMC) of the NDDC.
At the hearing, Akpabio said he did not know the expenditure of the NDDC under Nunieh because she refused to give him briefings.
He told the panel;
She does not pick my calls until one day she came to my house and told me I have five minutes.
After the hearing, the minister, flanked by his aides and supporters, spoke with journalists.
He denied that he got a N300 million fencing contract from the commission, an allegation levelled against him by Peter Nwaoboshi, chairman of the senate committee on NDDC.
After Akpabio left, Nunieh also spoke with journalists.
She alleged that while she was NDDC acting MD, Akpabio wanted her to take an oath to commit “illegal actions”.
Nunieh said;
I challenge him to say that he did not give me any oath on the certificate of no objection that he has. I am proud and I must encourage all Nigerians that we must save this country. He said I did not bring money and that I was talking to ministers against his presidential ambition. He gave me a list of people to employ, I said I will not employ them because the youths in our zone have not gotten jobs.
She alleged that Akpabio engineered her removal from office for failing to dance to his tunes as regards fraudulent contracts awards and executions.
Nunieh stressed;
The Minister did all manner of dirty things to forcefully remove me out of office like sponsoring the vandalisation of Agip Trunk A pipeline in Bayelsa as a way of making the unsuspecting public to believe that the youths in the area are angry with NDDC under my leadership.
While speaking, thugs disrupted the conference and this made journalists flee to safety.
Her allegations have since sparked reactions from many Nigerians on Twitter.

Sadly, Magu is a blockage they needed to eliminate while Akpabio is a tool needed for 2023.
