Ondo APC Expels Lawmaker, Demands Resignation Of Deputy Governor
All Progressives Congress in Ese Odo Local Government Area of Ondo State has expelled the lawmaker from the council area, Success Taiwo Torukerijoh.
Torukerijoh is a member of the Ondo State House of Assembly representing Ese Odo state Constituency.
He is one of the nine lawmakers opposing the impeachment of the state deputy governor, Agboola Ajayi.
Torukerijoh was reportedly expelled over alleged anti-party activities and misrepresentation of the party at the Assembly.
The action was taken during the meeting of the leaders of the party in the local government on Sunday.
They also urged the Deputy Governor, Agboola Ajayi, to resign his position since he has dumped the party for the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
Leaders present at the meeting said it was wrong for the Deputy Governor to refuse to vacate office even after castigating the party that brought him to office.
The meeting was presided over by the Deputy Chairman of the APC, Agabra Ikoto Atili and attended by notable leaders, including Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Donald Ojogo; Deputy Chief of Staff, Jimi Kuforiji, among others.
Hon. Richard Omosehin moved the motion for expulsion, which was seconded jointly by Ojogo and Hon Corporal Nanaopiri.
This comes two days after the state Chief Judge, Justice Oluwatoyin Akeredolu, rejected a request letter to set up a probe panel from the state’s House of Assembly against the Ajayi, over allegations of gross misconduct.

However, Akeredolu in her response to the letter rejected the request on the grounds that she received a letter from Ajayi’s lawyers stating that the process of impeachment is sub judice.
She also stated the request was rejected because two-third majority as required by the 1999 constitution for setting up of such a probe panel was not formed in the assembly.
Nine out of 24 lawmakers had dissociated themselves from the ongoing plot to remove the deputy governor.
The lawmakers are Iroju Ogundeji, Jamiu Maito, Raaheed Elegbeleye, Tomide Akinribido, Samuel Ademola, Favour Semilore, Festus Akingbaso, Williams Adekunle and Success Torhukerhijo.
