Teenager Gang-Raped By Four Men Tests Positive For COVID-19
A 16-year-old girl simply identified as Aishat, who was gang-raped by 4 men at a motor park in Ijesha, Surulere area of Lagos, has tested positive for coronavirus.
Following the rape incident, the girl got pregnant and recently gave birth in Mother and Child Care Centre, Gbaja, an arm of the Randle General Hospital, Surulere, Lagos, where she was confirmed positive for the virus.
According to reports, the lady was abandoned at the park by her guardian who took her from her parents in Saki, Oyo state, promising to help her find a job in Lagos.
Aishat said the guardian who is woman promised to come pick her from the park but never came back.
The young girl was then forced to roam the park and take shelter in buses and shops for days, leading to the sad incident.
Aishat being pregnant and homeless continued to roam the park, where she kept seeing her rapists, who she said she can identify.
She said she slept in different shops until the pregnancy came to full-term and she was referred to welfare workers.
The lady was taken to the Mother and Child Care Centre, Gbaja, where her case was first reported and through caesarean section gave birth to a baby girl, but unfortunately Aishat’s breast could not produce milk to feed her child.
After the birth of her child, she was to be taken to a Lagos state government shelters but the management of the centre insisted that a COVID-19 test be conducted on her first.
The COVID-19 test result came out positive and has been transferred to the Gbagada Isolation Centre.
