You Are Under Financial Curse If You Don’t Tithe – Oyedepo Sparks Online Debate
Presiding Bishop of Living Faith Church Worldwide alias Winners’ Chapel International, David Oyedepo, has sparked online debate following his statement on tithing.
He said prosperity is impossible without tithing and anyone who does not tithe is under a financial curse.
Oyedepo, who according to Forbes is Nigeria’s wealthiest pastor, said this in a tweet on Thursday.
The cleric tweeted;
Tithing is an inescapable covenant obligation. Prosperity not just wealth is impossible without tithing because when you are not paying tithe, you are under a financial curse.

In a subsequent tweet on Friday, Oyedepo said many problems men face could be traced to their financial dealings.
The way you handle your financial dealings determines greatly what happens to you financially. Many things that afflict men are traceable to their monetary dealings. False financial dealings can open doors to inexplicable afflictions.

While Oyedepo’s message was well received by many of his followers, some critics on social media described his message as false.
Reacting to the clergyman’s post, controversial broadcaster, Ifedayo Olarinde better known as Daddy Freeze, said on social media that Oyedepo’s message was wrong.
Daddy Freeze known for criticizing clergyman wrote on Instagram;
Utter nonsense! Are you one percent as prosperous or as wealthy as Jeff Bezos, Bill Gates and Warren Buffet who do not tithe? I personally find this unscriptural statement manipulative and cruel.
Christ did not collect tithe neither did the disciples, yet no one was cursed! Tithing is the old law, obeying the old law partially, without obeying all the 613 laws of Moses is what carries a curse. That’s why to us Christians, it’s referred to as the law of sin and death!
The critic, while quoting from Hebrews 7:5 said the law of Moses required that the priests, who are descendants of Levi, must collect a tithe from the rest of the people of Israel, who are also descendants of Abraham.
Other Nigerians on Twitter have also expressed their varying opinions.
See some reactions below;
If not engaging in Tithing would put someone under financial curse, then the death of Jesus is in vain.
Galatians 3:13 : Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us—for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who is hanged on a tree”—

Pentecostal pastors/bishops, please leave tithing and sowing of seed for now, and preach salvation, repentence and virtue. Sacrifice those money on the alter of societal repair. You can’t be preaching tithing in a corrupt and evil society. Our country needs urgent resuscitation.

Tithing as one of the keys to financial prosperity is powerful. But don’t just tithe because your pastor said so, understand the revelation behind it and apply it. And oh don’t be swayed by those who oppose it, the principles of governance in our kingdom can’t be same as theirs!

God won’t curse you for not tithing.
Your financial growth is not tied to tithing.
You give because you’ve been blessed, you don’t give to be blessed.
Jesus didn’t die for your finances.— Unwana (@Ibibio_Woman) July 17, 2020
Bishop Oyedepo said not paying your tithe brings financial curse; Daddy Freeze say na Lie
You people will now fight over their opinion as if the Bible was written for them alone
If tithing works for you, pay it
If tithing na scam, jump & passJust dont force your opinion on me

I’m not a Pastor nor from a Pastoral home but John Rockefeller, one of the richest men to live on this planet, tithed 10 percent of his income to his church ever since his first paycheck.
It is however a personal conviction. I can also supply you a list of tithing billionaires

IF you can supply me a list of tithing billionaires and I can supply you a bigger list of non tithing billionaires (Infact the top ten richest in the world right now have never said they tithed); what does that tell you?
Simple.
Riches has NOTHING to do with tithes.

This topic of tithing is very funny, because your greedy pastor who want you to come and give him money in form of tithe so that he can buy fuel for his private Jet will never show you this part of the Bible.
If you must obey this law do it right ✌️ pic.twitter.com/0IiHSgRfWY— 💙❤️Ultimate Kombo🇳🇬 (@ultimate_kombo) July 17, 2020
I don’t pay tithe and I’m not lacking God blessings, I rather give that tithe money to a motherless home or people suffering in hospitals than giving it to a pastor that is richer than me

1. Amongst the jews that paid tithe in the OT, there were the rich and the poor among them.
Tithing is not the key to financial prosperity.
2. If you, a born-again believer, is under a curse because you didn’t pay/give a tithe, your salvation is worthless.

This is not true. There is no scripture that ties prosperity or wealth to tithing under the new priesthood. We can’t be conveniently cherry-picking the scriptures to support what is sweet to our ears.

In the month of May,some happenings around me made me miss paying my tithes n indeed,my life became thoroughly tight.everyththing around me began to crumble without control.
An inward look n I realized where the problem was coming from.
