68 ladies stranded in Lebanon have arrived at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja on Sunday, August 16.
Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) announced that the evacuees arrived at about 3:30pm via Middle East Airline.

The commission thanked Lebanese Ambassador to Nigeria, Houssam Diab, Nigerian Mission in Lebanon, and the Lebanese Community in Nigeria for making the flight possible.
In addition, the evacuees will proceed on a 14-day self isolation as mandated by Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Presidential Task Forcd on COVID-19.

This comes two days after Ambassador Diab said most Nigerians in Lebanon especially ladies were not trafficked but entered the country legally, contrary to public opinion.

Diab made this known during a visit to the Foreign Affairs Minister Geoffrey Onyeama in Abuja on Friday, August 14.
He stated that some Nigerian ladies who recently cried out for help from Lebanon did so because they could no longer be paid by their employees as a result of the recent economic downturn.

Diab added that the suspension of the issuance of visas to domestic workers since May had also contributed to the situation.
