Bollywood Star Amitabh Bachchan Recovers From Coronavirus
Amitabh Bachchan, one of India’s most famous film stars, has tested negative for COVID-19 and been discharged from hospital.
The 77-year-old Bollywood actor spent about three weeks in hospital after testing positive last month.

Speaking on Sunday, he tweeted;
I have tested COVID negative, have been discharged. I am back home in solitary quarantine.
He thanked his family, fans “and the excellent care and nursing” at the hospital, saying they “made it possible for me to see this day”.

Bachchan was one of the most high-profile figures to test positive amid India’s coronavirus outbreak.
Hailed by many as the country’s greatest living actor, he is revered in his home nation and a legend within the Bollywood industry.

Bachchan’s actor-son Abishek, who was admitted at the same time, will remain in hospital, while his daughter-in-law Aishwarya Rai and granddaughter Aaradhya were discharged last week.
More than 1.7 million people have now been infected in India and more than 37,000 have died, giving it the world’s highest toll behind the United States and Brazil.
