Breaking: Total Toll Exceeds 44,000 As NCDC Confirms 288 New Coronavirus Cases
Total COVID-19 cases in Nigeria has exceeded 44,000 after NCDC announced 288 new coronavirus cases on Monday, August 3.
This comes three days after the country recorded over 43,000 coronavirus infections. Between July 31 and August 3, 978 new cases were recorded.

It would be recalled that on Sunday, the country’s total coronavirus was 43,841 with 20,308 discharged patients and 888 causalities.
According to the new toll, there are now 44,129 total cases, 20,663 recoveries and 896 death cases across the country.
Also, with NCDC’s August 2 situation report, total samples tested nationwide have increased from 286,091 to 287,532.
Meanwhile, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control has said it was tracking 11,000 COVID-19 contacts nationwide.
NCDC Director-General, Dr Chikwe Ihekweazu, said the agency would not stop contract-tracing, stating that it would continue to pay attention to this vital aspect of the campaign to curb the pandemic.
Speaking during a briefing by the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 in Abuja on Monday, he added that NCDC is liaising with the African Centre for Disease Control to obtain the COVID-19 vaccines for the continent whenever it is available.
