Breaking: Total Toll Exceeds 45,000 As NCDC Confirms 354 New Coronavirus Cases

Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has announced 354 new COVID-19 cases as total toll surpasses 45,000 on Thursday, August 6.

This comes three days after the country recorded over 44,000 coronavirus infections. Between August 3 and August 6, 1115 new cases were recorded.

In the centre’s latest data posted on Twitter, there are now;

It would be recalled that on Wednesday, the country’s total coronavirus was 44,890 with 20,663 discharged patients and 896 causalities.

According to the new toll, there are now 45,244 total cases, 32,430 recoveries and 930 death cases across the country.

Also, with NCDC’s August 5 situation report, total samples tested nationwide have increased from 304,221 to 306,894.

In other news, President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the extension of the second phase of the eased lockdown for another four weeks.

This extension is the third for the second phase of lockdown currently observed across the country.

Boss Mustapha, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) and Chairman of the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19 disclosed this during the Task Force briefing in Abuja on Thursday.

While addressing newsmen, he noted that the PTF made some recommendations to the president and the extension of the current ease of lockdown was one of the inferences approved.
