Kano State police command have discovered the corpse of a woman that was allegedly locked up in a room by her husband for three days at Mariri Quarters in Kano state.
The stench from the decomposing corpse compelled neighbours to alert the security agents who conducted a sweeping operation that led to the discovery.
The police had since evacuated the corpse to an unnamed health facility in the city for postmortem.
DSP Abdullahi Haruna, Spokesman of the Kano State Police Command, while confirming the incident to reporters in Kano state, disclosed that investigation has been launched into the matter.
He stated that the husband has been taken into custody for questioning regarding the incident.
This incident makes it the fourth case of forceful solitary confinement uncovered by the police in less than two weeks in Kano state.

It would be recalled that Kano state police rescued a 55-year-old man allegedly confined for 30 years in a solitary room by his father.

Last Thursday, one Ahmed Aminu, 32-year-old, confined by his father, Aminu Farawa, in a garage for seven years was rescued by the police.
Similarly on Sunday, a 40-year-old, Ibrahim Lawan, held in captivity for 15 years was also rescued by the police in the state.
