Man Arraigned For Assaulting 100-Year-Old Woman In Osun
A 27-year-old man, Abdullahi Salisu, who allegedly assaulted a 100-year-old woman, Bintu Adamu, has appeared before a Magistrate Court in Ile-Ife, Osun State on Tuesday, August 18.
The Prosecution Counsel, Inspector Sunday Osanyintuyi, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on August 16, 2020 around 3:45PM at Sabo, Ile-Ife.
Osanyintuyi alleged that the defendant and others, who are at large, attacked Adamu and inflicted injuries on her forehead.
He added that the defendant also assaulted a 20-year-old housewife, Mrs. Uman Adamu.
The offence, he said, contravened the provisions of sections 355 and 516 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun, 2020.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to three counts of conspiracy, assault and causing hurt after which his Counsel, Mr. Leke Dada, pleaded for bail in most liberal terms.
Magistrate A. A. Ayeni admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.
Ayeni ordered the sureties to swear to affidavit of means, reside within the court’s jurisdiction, while their addresses must also be verified by the prosecutor.
He then adjourned the case until September 24 for hearing.
