DSS invites Dr Obadiah Mailafia
Former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Dr Obadiah Mailafia has been re-invited by the Department of State Security (DSS) for further discussions regarding his allegation against Northern Governors.

Last week, Mailafia during a radio interview alleged that a serving governor in one of the Northern states is the commander of Boko Haram in Nigeria.

On the fresh invite, Mailafia is expected to be at the DSS office Jos, Plateau state capital, by 12 noon on Monday, August 17, 2020, TheNation reports.

Mailafia’s lawyer, Bawa Ba, confirmed this on Monday morning saying;

The invitation was a buildup to the previous one, it is a process with security agents. It is normal for further discussion.

It would be recalled that Mailafiya honoured invitation at the DSS office in Jos over his allegation. He was in the DSS premises for six hours but released unconditionally.

Addressing his supporters after being grilled, Mailafia said he stands by what he said during the radio programme and that there was no need for him to retract his statement.

He however stated that a section of the radio interview was lifted out of context of the entire radio station, stressing;

We had a lively and intense interview over a radio interview I granted. That interview which was meant for an FM radio station, some just picked the clip — a small section of the 55 minutes broadcast — and put it on social media and it went very very far all over the country, raising a lot of concerns.

What I want to say is that, yes, all of those words were made by me. You know if the whole of the 55 minutes was played out, the context of what I said in a small clip that went viral would have become clearer.

DSS in its reaction said Mailafia privately apologised for his allegation against Northern Governors despite his public stance of standing by his words.

The agency said;

It is condemnable that Mailafiya, who had profusely apologised during his visit to the Service’s Plateau State Command for his ignoble statement, would, afterward, announce to the world that he stood by his misguided eruption.
