Naira Marley’s new signee, Lyta has been accused of music video plagiarism by fans of South Korean boy band, GOT7.
K-pop fans took to social media to decry the uncanny similarities between singer’s new video for the song “Hold Me Down” and 2015 “Just Right” by South Korean K-pop boy band, GOT7.
Lyta’s “Hold Me Down” music video was released on Friday, August 14 via Naira Marley’s YouTube account.
In the description of the video, Naira Marley wrote; “This video was inspired by Kpop Korean boy band GOT7 and BTS.”
Meanwhile, GOT7’s music video for “Right Here” was published on July 12, 2015. The video has been viewed over 335 million times.
Lyta’s controversial music video in question is titled ‘Hold Me Down’ begins with a female lead sitting in front of her mirror, when the drawers suddenly start shaking.
The lead pulls out the drawer and the singer emerges, sitting on top of a foundation cushion.
The scene changes to a table with a cereal box. The female lead removes the cereal box to find the singer, Lyta accompanied by dancers, using the table as a stage to perform.
However, according to fans of GOT7 boy band, the video is similar to a 2016 music video of the group.
There are now demanding an apology from the singer with the hashtag #ApologizeLyta trending on social media for allegedly ‘stealing’ the video idea and passing it off as his own.
GOT7 fans have also been reporting the YouTube page and disliking the video, demanding for the music video to be pulled down from the platform.
Here is a mash up of the two videos below;
